Mozambique's Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources Inspects CJIC-Built Urban Infrastructure Projects in Tete City

From April 10 to 11, His Excellency Fernando Rafael, Minister of Public Works, Housing, and Water Resources of Mozambique, conducted an inspection tour of two major urban infrastructure projects in Tete City, which are under construction by China Jiangxi International (CJIC). The minister praised the projects for their exemplary performance and significant social impact.


On April 10, Minister Rafael visited the Urban Sanitation Project in Tete City. He toured the local community in depth, gained a first-hand and detailed understanding of the project’s implementation, and held face-to-face conversations with beneficiaries. As a key component of the new government’s "the first 100-Day Governance Goals," the project has markedly improved community hygiene and living standards. Minister Rafael commended CJIC’s efficiency and high-quality construction, stating that "The works is progressing very well with high quality, will minimize the suffering of families, all the teams are to be congratulated for the excellent performance." He also enourcaged CJIC to keep doing a good job and ensure early completion of the project to bring tangible benefit to more beneficiaries.


The following day, the Minister and his delegation inspected the Tete Urban Water Distribution Center. After hearing the progress report, Minister Rafael expressed high appreciation for the construction team's sense of responsibility and dedication in steadily in advancing the project despite challenging conditions. He promised that the Ministry of Public Works will strengthen communication and coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank to create more favorable conditions for project implementation, aiming to accelerate progress and early completion to maximize its social impact.


The visit underscored Mozambique’s focus on infrastructure-driven social development. Observers noted that CJIC’s projects not only demonstrate technical excellence but also establish a sustainable "build-for-impact" model for China-Africa cooperation. With Mozambique prioritizing public welfare investments, Chinese enterprises are well-positioned to contribute further through their expertise and efficiency.
